Lan Kwai Fong Association is presenting the inaugural Incredible India Festival in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, Hong Kong. Taking place on 15 to 16 March, the event will transform the streets of Lan Kwai Fong into a lively showcase of Indian culture, music, dance, art, cuisine, amongst others.

Steeped in its ancient history, Indian culture is a magnificent tapestry woven with heritage and traditions. The Incredible India Festival aims to capture the very essence of this vibrant cultural mosaic, offering locals and visitors alike a unique chance to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, and flavours of India. With a thriving Indian community locally, the festival also serves as a platform for cultural exchange, fostering deeper connections and a sense of unity among diverse groups.

The festival kicks off in style with a baraat styled procession filled with energizing live music and dancing. In Indian weddings, the baraat is led by the groom and this joyful parade symbolises the start of festivities. For the Incredible India Festival, the baraat styled procession will weave through the streets of Lan Kwai Fong, setting the tone for a celebratory, joyful weekend ahead.

Lan Kwai Fong is also partnering with Kerala artist Adarsh, who has travelled from India with his team to create a seven-meter-tall mural on D’Aguilar Street. Typically found in ancient Indian temples and palaces, Kerala mural art is known for its bright colors and intricate details. For this special artwork, Adarsh brings to life a bustling Indian parade procession set against the backdrop of the Lan Kwai Fong cityscape. The result is a mesmerizing masterpiece that seamlessly blends traditional Kerala motifs with iconic Hong Kong skyscrapers.

Furthermore, the festival includes a variety of captivating cultural performances, ranging from classical Indian music recitals to dance performances, such as Kathak performers enchant with their intricate footwork and graceful twirls, Bharatanatyam performers enthrall with their powerful movements, and Kuchipudi dancers enrapture with their expressive storytelling. To give the audience a taste of the rhythm and movement of Indian dance, a Bollywood dance and a Garba workshop will begin on the evenings of March 15 and 16, respectively.

In addition to the dancing sessions, extra workshops are designed to offer audiences a deeper connection to India’s rich heritage. Guests can adorn their hands with intricate traditional henna designs, enjoy screenings of acclaimed Hindi blockbusters like Dangal and RRR, and explore the ancient wisdom of ayurveda remedies by getting a pulse reading.

Visitors can also try on the traditional Indian attire provided by ISKCON Hong Kong and snap photos in front of a beautifully decorated Indian chariot— a symbol of blessings often seen in temple processions.

As a part of the community celebrations, a number of pop-up booths and food stalls lining the streets of Lan Kwai Fong, visitors can indulge in the flavours of authentic Indian cuisine. Relish crowd favourites such as spicy curries, paani poori, and biryani at the Michelin-recommended Bombay Dreams, and take a gastronomic journey to the country’s north at Jashan Celebrating Indian Cuisine. The event also features Indian jewelry, Ayurvedic wellness items, spices, tea, and handicrafts from many districts and states of India listed under 'One District One Product (ODOP)'.

Lan Kwai Fong has also partnered with DBS Bank and PayMe by HSBC to offer special discounts and promotions. Holders of DBS Black World Mastercard can enjoy an exclusive 15% discount on special menu items across 17 restaurants and bars from 15 March to 30 April. PayMe and the brand vouchers will be accepted at all booths. The festival is also supported by Cathay Pacific and The Caravel Group.

Allan Zeman, chairman of the Lan Kwai Fong Group, expressed his excitement about partnering with the Consulate General of India, Hong Kong for the Incredible India Festival. “Lan Kwai Fong is proud to be at the forefront of organising such high-profile, mega-scale celebrations that resonate with both local and overseas visitors.”

“We are confident in Hong Kong’s ability to continue thriving as a global destination for tourism, entertainment, and cultural exchange, and are excited to continue hosting exciting events that leverage the unique advantages of the Greater Bay Area and showcase the best of what the city has to offer."

Satwant Khanalia, consul general of India in Hong Kong & Macau, said that the canvas of Indian culture is so rich and diverse with a multitude of classical dance and music genres, folk music and dance, folk and tribal arts, Bollywood which is a world in itself, a plethora of varied delectable regional cuisines, yoga, Ayurveda, beautiful handicrafts that are unique to different districts of Indian States listed under ‘One District One Product (ODOP)’ that it was felt that there should be an attempt to bring it all together over a packed, exciting weekend in the bustling heart of Hong Kong at LKF.

"This has materialised into the 'Incredible India Festival' at LKF on 15-16 March 2025. We hope that this will bring Indian art and culture to an accessible space for all Hongkongers, as well as tourists, and foster an appreciation and better understanding of India's rich cultural heritage that goes back millenia, making it truly 'Incredible India'."
