FCB SHOUT has expanded its brand management team with five new senior hires comprising Timothy Teh and Chin Yee Wen as brand directors, Kong Pooi Ling and Melanie Mustapha as associate brand directors and Kevin Choong as communications planning director. All five report directly to GM Syahriza Badron.

Teh had worked previously with global agencies on brands such as AmBank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Audi, Proton, Samsung, 100Plus, Strongbow and Apple Fox for over 15 years and had stints on the client’s side. His latest role before joining FCB SHOUT was as the brand manager for Spritzer, a mineral water brand, and he also held roles as brand manager for Big Bad Wolf Books and brand lead for its markets including Thailand, UAE, and Myanmar.

Syahriza said Teh's expertise with client organisations and his exposure to regional markets will provide invaluable insights as we continue ramp up our cross-border business. "His experience with financial brands will make him a key asset for our finance and banking portfolio," she added.

Meanwhile, Chin has been in the creative industry for over a decaded, working on diverse client portfolios such as BenQ, PPB, Harta Bina, 50 Megumi and many other Malaysian brands. Syahriza explained that Chin's strongest point is her competence in a multitude of categories. "She is our jack of all trades. Her experience with independent agencies is completely in line with our #NoPlanB spirit where we are hands-on, full-on, and always-on," she added.

At the same time, Choong will be working closely with Syahriza to bring FCB SHOUT's strategies to life via its integrated communications planning framework, ensuring that it continues to deliver effective solutions within an increasingly fragmented media landscape. Choong has 16 years of experience in advertising as well as digital and retail marketing with brands such as Nestle, Samsung and Novartis in Malaysia, and AIA, Total Oil and Vinci airports in Cambodia.

Additionally, both Kong and Melanie have over 10 years of advertising experience and according to Syahriza, will play key roles on accounts. "They add further depth to our already significant FMCG experience and, just as importantly, bring a youthful energy to our team with them," she said.

"The growth we’ve seen in 2021 has continued over to this year. And with our new hires, we are in a stronger position than ever to keep delivering top-flight work for both our current and newly acquired clients, while also ensuring the capacity for even more new growth opportunities," Syahriza added.

The new hires come two months after the agency rebranded from FCB Malaysia in April this year. Co-owners Shaun Tay and Ong Shi-Ping also launched a new creative holding company called The Shout Group, which houses FCB SHOUT and sister agencies Ignite and MDWActivation.

In January, FCB also beefed up its creative team by promoting Wang Ie Tjer to head of creative. It also elevated Jonathan Chan and James Voon to associate creative director roles, Megan Ong and Wong Ching Sin as senior copywriters, and Ahmad Hafidz as senior art director.

FCB swept the field during A+M's Agency of the Year Awards 2021, winning Agency of the Year and Local Hero of the Year. It also bagged nine gold, three silver and four bronze trophies in total for B2B Agency of the Year, Branding Agency of the Year, Creative Agency of the Year, CRM & Loyalty Marketing Agency of the Year, Lead Generation Agency of the Year, Social Media Marketing Agency of the Year and many more.
