Dentsu names new CEO for Indonesia

Dentsu has appointed marketing transformation veteran Elvira Jakub as CEO of dentsu Indonesia as it continues its growth amidst the transformation of Indonesia’s digital economy. In her new role, Jakub will report to Sanjay Bhasin, CEO, Southeast Asia, dentsu.
The role was previously held by Prakash Kamdar who held a dual-CEO role for Singapore and Indonesia from 2022. In his current role as CEO, clients and solutions, SEA, along with the role CEO of dentsu Singapore, Kamdar will further focus on accelerating dentsu’s client portfolio across its Southeast Asia cluster.

Prior to her new appointment, Jakub was the head of industry at Google where she helped traditional businesses in auto, tech and telecommunications thrive during and post-pandemic through innovative transformation. Jakub was with Google from 2019.
“Indonesia's market is rapidly evolving, and our clients need adaptable, integrated solutions to meet their business goals,” said Jakub.
“I am thrilled to join dentsu Indonesia at this pivotal moment. Our team has been pioneering an integrated approach to creative, media, and CXM, empowering our clients to become innovation powerhouses in the ever-evolving marketing landscape,” she added.
Jakub joins dentsu Indonesia with 23 years of experience in the Indonesia market under her belt having worked with brands such as Samsung Electronics and Nestle Indonesia, according to her LinkedIn.
“A deeply experienced marketing transformation leader with an intimate knowledge of the Indonesia market – we have found the right person in Jakub to continue dentsu Indonesia’s growth trajectory amid an unprecedented era of economic growth for the market,” said Bhasin.
“Jakub's appointment is timely as we ramp up the evolution of our Southeast Asia business to harness more synergies for our clients and people across the cluster,” he added.
In 2023, dentsu announced the creation of its Southeast Asia cluster, the fast-growing market for the network in APAC. Dentsu Southeast Asia includes the markets of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
As dentsu expands to different regions, it recently established a new “Greater North” cluster, bringing together mainland China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan into one management structure. It appointed its Taiwan CEO Jennifer Tang to spearhead the cluster as CEO, Greater North.
Tang has been the CEO of Dentsu Taiwan since April 2017 and was responsible for transforming Taiwan's business into a high-performance business built on a culture of client-centricity, teaming and growth mindset. Tang specialises in integration, innovation, data and technology.
