Deliveroo Hong Kong opens first kitchen hub in Kowloon

Deliveroo Hong Kong has opened a kitchen hub at Kowloon Bay to tap into the opportunities in one of Hong Kong's most densely populated areas.

This new "Editions" site will be a hub for pick-up and delivery, hosting seven Deliveroo restaurant partners as well as an evolving rotation of virtual brands to bring new dining choices to East Kowloon. Spanning over 3,000 square feet, the kitchen serves customers from across five districts: Choi Hung, Kai Tak, Kowloon Bay, Kwun Tong and Ngau Tau Kok, reaching a total of more than 688,500 residents — or about 10% of Hong Kong's total population.

Customers can access a variety of dishes from the delivery app and opt to order online or choose pick-up to grab their meal in person.

“Kowloon East has transformed in recent years from an industrial neighborhood to a hotspot for new offices and businesses as well as new residential premises, and as a result, we’ve seen a surge in demand for food delivery services, especially from the new enclave of office workers and residents in the district," said Brian Lo, general manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong.

Deliveroo Hong Kong invested over HK$10 million into the new kitchen as Kowloon Bay and Kwun Tong have grown into two of the company's fastest-growing regions in food delivery orders. This latest addition is also part of Deliveroo Hong Kong's HK$50 million investment in Editions kitchens for the 2020 calendar year, with more sites to be announced soon.

"With seven restaurant partners and a roster of virtual brands, people in Kowloon East will be able to enjoy a variety of food delivered straight to their doorsteps. Deliveroo is very committed to the Hong Kong market and to supporting our restaurant partners to thrive," said Jonathan Tsao, head of Editions, Deliveroo Hong Kong.

The latest kitchen hub is Deliveroo Hong Kong's fourth Editions site. In 2017, the company opened the first kitchen in Wan Chai. The other two sites are located at Sai Ying Pun and Quarry Bay.
