Singapore will reportedly be a hub and OpenAI will support customers and partners throughout the APAC region through it. The team here will also help to strengthen relationships with local and regional governments, businesses and institutions, said the company.

At Tech Week Singapore, OpenAI reportedly said that its plan reflects Singapore's leading position in technology and artificial intelligence, as well as the growing demand for advanced AI tools in the APAC region.

OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, also reportedly said that the company is excited to partner with the Singapore government and the country's AI ecosystem as it expands.

OpenAI's local presence will also reportedly allow it to work more closely with government partners such as the Economic Development Board (EDB), it said.

Oliver Jay has since been onboarded as OpenAI's managing director as of this year, leading OpenAI's strategy and operations in international market, according to his LinkedIn page.
