Malaysia-based investment holding company, Catcha Digital, has appointed Tan Guan Sheng as the head of Innovation. The appointment is in line with the firm’s efforts to boost their Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities in digital media.

Its AI in digital media initiatives include content creation, distribution, and personalisation to enhance its user engagement. It also aims to use advanced AI analytics to provide better insights on audience behaviour. This is to create data-driven content strategies for clients. Additionally, the company aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in content production and distribution through AI-driven content optimisation.

Tan (pictured) was the founder of Ittify, a Malaysian influencer platform. On 9 October 2023, Catcha Digital announced the acquisition of the remaining 49% equity interest in Ittify that it did not already own. The acquisition for a cash consideration of RM3.43 million was completed on 10 October 2023.

“The potential for transformative change is significant, and we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what AI can do,” said Tan. Tan has also acquired 1.14 million shares in Catcha Digital, representing approximately 0.32% of the company’s total outstanding shares as at 16 October 2023.

Speaking on the appointment, Eric Tan, CEO of Catcha Digital said, “We believe this can create significant value for our customers, allowing us to offer even better marketing solutions to all our clients.”

Apart from Ittify, Catcha Digital also acquired Headline Media earlier in October. Headline media owns and operates websites such as WeirdKaya, LokLokWords, and EzLokal. With the acquisitions, the firm expressed hope to improve its profitability and strengthen its English language network.
