Capella Hotel Group has appointed Ivy Kwan as its senior vice president of sales and marketing.

In her new role at Capella Hotel Group, Kwan will champion the strategic positioning of the company.

She will also build upon the legacy of service excellence integral to the group’s brand ethos, oversee the development and implementation of innovative commercial strategies, and consolidate the unique positioning of Capella Hotels & Resorts and Patina Hotels & Resorts within the competitive luxury market.

“Capella Hotel Group stands as a paragon of luxury hospitality, offering unique and diverse experiences across its brands. The group’s relentless pursuit of innovation in the hospitality sector is truly inspiring. I am committed to upholding its legacy of excellence by crafting innovative strategies to elevate the brand," said Kwan.

"Together with my exceptional colleagues, we look forward to building new organisational capabilities and implementing business transformation initiatives to future-proof the business. We aim to make a meaningful impact in the ultra-luxury hospitality market and enrich the communities we serve as we expand our presence in new destinations," she added.

Kwan has honed a career spanning over 30 years. She joins Capella Hotel Group from Urban Resort Concepts where she served as senior vice president of commercial strategy and business development since 2021.

Prior to her tenure at Urban Resort Concepts, she was with Kerzner International for seven years as vice president of sales and marketing, Asia Pacific. There, she played a pivotal role in positioning the ultra-luxury One&Only and Atlantis brands in the Asia-Pacific region, including the re-branding and openings of One&Only resorts in Australia, Malaysia, and The Atlantis, Sanya.

Before joining Kerzner, Kwan spent a decade with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company at The Portman Ritz Carlton, Shanghai, and The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, where she spearheaded the opening of what was then the world’s highest hotel in 2011. She gained her initial experience at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort, Malaysia, followed by Shangri-La’s China World Hotel, Beijing.

"Kwan has proven herself to be an expert across various segments of sales and marketing, demonstrating strong expertise in brand management, marketing, public relations, communications, sales, revenue optimization, and distribution," said Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group.

"As Capella Hotel Group enters its next phase of growth, with key openings in exciting new destinations, we are confident in her ability to provide creative solutions that will heighten awareness and strengthen our brand equity in people’s minds and hearts," Rinaldi added.
