Calvin Klein HK's topless teaser of Anson Lo and Anson Kong (understandably) goes viral

Boyband MIRROR has sent many Hongkongers into a frenzy over the summer. Many brands are jumping on their bandwagon and collaborating with them in latest marketing initiatives. Most recently, Calvin Klein Hong Kong decided to embark on a new campaign with photos featuring Anson Lo (pictured left) and Anson Kong (pictured right) which, for very understandable reasons, have gone viral online. 

On 28 September, Calvin Klein Hong Kong published a post on Facebook showcasing a model with his naked torso wearing a Calvin Klein underwear. The post wrote, "When Calvin Klein meets a different kind of him, what kind of sparks will come out? Stay tuned! Leave a comment and share who you are expecting." A lot of netizens left comments and they said they knew that the post featured Anson Lo. Hours later, Calvin Klein Hong Kong released a seven-second video, featuring a male model's back. 

The brand used the same tactic yesterday, releasing a post with a video showcasing a male model with tattoos on his right arm. The post wrote, "A new face boldly interprets Calvin Klein's autumn and winter series. Stay tuned and leave a comment to guess who he is." And this time, netizens guessed the brand was featuring Anson Kong. 

Meanwhile, both Anson Lo and Anson Kong published posts on their Instagram accounts on the same day to confirm the collaboration with a set of photos featuring the brand's underwear. At the time of writing, Anson Lo's post received more than 161,000 likes on Instagram, while Anson Kong got over 98,000 likes. 

On 30 September, Calvin Klein officially unveiled both members of MIRROR with details of the how to redeem the Anson Lo-themed gifts. According to a report from HK01, some Calvin Klein stores in the city has already launched the images of Anson Lo for this campaign. 

Anson Lo has been a heartthrob among a lot of Hongkongers, particularly female fans. Recently, he and fellow MIRROR member Ian Chan roamed around West Kowloon to help the Hong Kong Tourism Board. In the video, both Lo and Chan visit attractions at West Kowloon, including museum M+ and the M+ Pavilion in its close proximity. They also hop on a Star Ferry to help promote HKTB's "Holiday at home" (旅遊就在香港) initiative.

In 2020 Calvin Klein’s Spring campaign, an ad with Justin Bieber had a similar impact on the global market. In the ad, the pop-star lounges, posts and stretches along a leather couch.The brand also in the past released a campaign that celebrated unapologetic self-love, Bieber, Lil Nas X and many others.
