
Blibli's parent company acquires startup Dekoruma for IDR 1.17 trillion

Global Digital Niaga (BELI), the parent company of eCommerce platform Blibli and travel agency Tiket.com, has reportedly acquired local home decor startup Dekoruma with a transaction value of IDR 1.16 trillion (approximately SG$95.9 million).
Through this acquisition, BELI will gain 26,197 series C shares of PT Dekoruma Inovasi Lestari or equal to 99.83% of its shares, according to CNN Indonesia.
The acquisition reportedly became official on 20 June 2024.

According to Kompas.com, Blibli's management hopes that the acquisition can provide a boost or stimulus for the company's business, especially in the realm of home and living products.
In Indonesia, Dekoruma is known to provide home and living products including sofas, wall decorations, carpets and lamps amongst many others.
In addition, Blibli reportedly plans to develop Dekoruma online and offline trade lines after the completion of the acquisition too. The acquisition will also reportedly allow Blibli and Dekoruma to unite as an integrated company for both online and offline commerce.
eCommerce is continuing to grow in the region, with nearly 70% of Gen Zs in the region considering eCommerce platforms a key entry point for their shopping journey, relying on these platforms to research their purchases.
Despite exploring alternative channels for product research and discovery, a majority (73%) of Gen Zs completed their purchases on eCommerce platforms.
Notably, 56% of those who initially engage with social commerce platforms for research prefer returning to eCommerce platforms to complete transactions. These were the results of eCommerce platform Shopee's recent study into shopping behaviours among Southeast Asian Gen Zs that surveyed over 2,400 shoppers.
