Barbie selfie generator: List of quick thinking brands joining in on the fun
share on
This past weekend, the internet has been abuzz with a new selfie generator by Barbie that gives fans the opportunity to insert pictures of themselves straight into Barbie Land alongside promotional content for the film. An AI generator will automatically remove your photo's background for you and then you can adjust the placement of the photo, the color of your sparkly background and the tagline that is shown above the photo.
Since its release, fans have been taking to social media to share their own personalised Barbie posters and much in the same way that Bondee went viral when people began sharing avatars of themselves on socials, the movie has also been gaining popularity with the influx of user generated content. Not one to miss out on the trend, brands close to home also are taking to Instagram to share their own customised memes.
Below are some brands that have joined the Barbie selfie bandwagon.
1. CapitaStar
Singapore's lifestyle and shopping rewards programme CapitStar joined the Barbie selfie bandwagon by posting on its Instagram page: "We stan the queen of rewards!"
In the caption, it also included a promotion code as it features the Barbie selfie.
2. HBO Asia
Streaming platform HBO Asia showcased its characters from The White Lotus and Game of Thrones on its Instagram platform. HBO Asia cheekily said, "Collect them all on #HBOGO!" and added a clown emoji.
3. Julie's
Malaysian biscuits brand Julie's Biscuits is now officially a Barbie girl. "I'm a Julie's girl, in the Julie's world," said its Instagram post, a play on the catchy song "Barbie Girl" by Danish-Norwegian band Aqua back in the 2000s.
Doesn't it look like Julie's mascot fits right in the Barbie world?
4. Mercedes
