Donut chain Mister Donut has unveiled a new collaboration with Pokémon to wrap up the year, featuring the popular Japanese franchise's Poké ball and Pikachu.

The limited-edition collaboration will only be available until 19 January 2025 at all outlets. "Wrap up this year and start 2025 on the sweetest note with a sprinkle of magic and a dash of fun. Pokémon has finally arrived at Mister Donut Singapore! Join us and savour (delicious) cuteness you've never seen before," said a teaser post by Mister Donut on Instagram.

Furthermore, the brand has released a special edition Pokémon bundle where fans can purchase both donuts from the collaboration and four other donuts for a discounted price. The side of the box features a QR code in which fans can scan, leading them to the Pokémon trading card game website where they can learn how to play the game.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Mister Donut for more information.

Pokémon continues to be a popular franchise for collaborations. Aside from Mister Donut, sandwich cookie brand OREO partnered with Pokémon for limited edition themed cookies and photocards earlier in February.

In an interview with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE previously, Jonathan McCarthy, vice president of marketing at Mondelēz International, Southeast Asia said "OREO had also previously partnered with Pokémon in the US and seeing how much that partnership and OREO’s playful twist excited people and knowing how popular Pokémon is in this part of the world, it was a no-brainer for us to leverage the idea with our own twist of Pokémon embossed cookies and a Pikachu-inspired flavour."

"The OREO x Pokémon collaboration brings together the adventurous world of Pokémon with the playful experience of OREO. We tapped on consumers’ behaviour of collecting hard-to-find Pokémon and mirrored the thrills by getting them to ‘collect all 16 OREO Pokémon cookies’," added McCarthy.

Meanwhile, brands such as Le Creuset, 7-Eleven Hong Kong and Pizza Hut has also tapped on the franchise to engage with its fans and customers throughout the year.
