eCommerce giant Amazon has launched Amazon.sg, an online site for consumers in Singapore. Available on desktop, mobile and Amazon Shopping app, the company aims to allow Singapore consumers the ability to shop from a local and international selection on its platform.
Amazon first expanded to Singapore two years ago. Currently, Amazon members in Singapore have access to the Prime Now, the free 2-hour delivery service. With the launch of Amazon.sg, Prime membership for customers in Singapore will also include free one-day delivery with no minimum spend for eligible local items on the online store, as well as free international shipping for eligible orders.
According to Henry Low, Amazon Singapore country manager, this marks as the next step for the company in Singapore, as it looks to earn the trust of Singapore customers by growing its product range, ensuring low prices, and providing a convenient and trusted shopping experience. He told Marketing that through own research, the company found that customers in Singapore are generally savvy online shoppers, and have many options to choose from when making purchases. Amazon will be marketing itself across multiple different channels over the coming weeks and months.
In addition, Amazon aims to offer small and medium sized businesses opportunities to list their products to online shoppers with the launch of the online Singapore store. The eCommerce company offers selling partners access to listing tools, payment processing and credit card fraud protection, promotional features to help brands and businesses get discovered by customers and reports and analytics to improve selling.
