Airstar Bank names Ronald Iu as chief executive

Hong Kong's virtual bank Airstar Bank has appointed Ronald Iu as chief executive.
lu has more than 20 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, holding positions in senior management for over 10 years. He has extensive experiences ranging from risk management, sales and marketing to the development of new fintech products.
Since joining Airstar Bank as alternate chief executive in December 2019, Iu has been leading the team to execute various important initiatives, including setting up its business development strategy, designing the blueprint for building product lines, and defining different commercial imperatives and action plans.
In a statement, the board of directors said they are looking forward to Iu's stewardship to further develop Airstar Bank according to its mission in providing banking services to each and everyone to achieve financial inclusion, turning another new page in the virtual banking industry in launching more innovative services to define a supreme customer experience.
Iu is replacing Frederic Lau, who was appointed as advisor of the bank. Lau will remain as a member of the board of directors as well as vice chairman of AMTD Group. Both appointments took effect from 10 October 2020.
