After Gojek, TADA implements increased fares amidst rising fuel costs

Ride-hailing application TADA will implement a temporary Driver’s Fee to reduce the burden of increasing fuel prices on the drivers. To ease riders into the temporary Driver’s Fee, TADA will be offering SG$1 vouchers with the promo code “ONETADA” to passengers, with limited redemptions daily until 30 April 2022.
A SG$0.50 flat fee will be added to all rides with trip fares SG$18 and below, while an SG$0.80 flat fee will be added to rides with trip fares SG$18.10 and above. The additional fee applies to all TADA rides, from 4 April to 31 May 2022, after which it will be further reviewed should fuel prices drop. For transparency, the fare adjustment will be reflected separately from the ride fare and will be itemised distinctly on the rider’s receipt as they complete a booking - all increments will go directly to the drivers.
Additionally, TADA will launch a driver campaign, providing fuel rebates to drivers who complete trips on a daily basis. The first driver campaign will run from 4 to 17 April, offering drivers a SG$10 rebate per day if they complete 19 trips daily, after which the campaign may be extended following a review.
Jonathan Chua, general manager of TADA, said that he hopes these initiatives will help drivers mitigate the additional costs from rising fuel prices. “TADA is a platform where riders and drivers are part of the same community and we remain committed to keeping mobility equitable and accessible. We are carefully calibrating this with additional fuel rebates and rider incentives during this period to uphold TADA’s proposition of fair and stable prices for riders without diminishing the livelihoods of our drivers,” he added.
TADA operates on a zero-commission policy, with their drivers earning the full amount from their ride fares. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to TADA for comment.
TADA is not the first ride-hailing platform to implement initiatives for its driver clients. Recently, Gojek said that it will increase its trip start fares from 31 March, to support its driver-partners' earnings, and help them cope with rising fuel and operating costs. To keep consumers happy and offset the charges, its ongoing “925” promotion will remain applicable to all trips booking via its platform. The promotion provides customers with up to 50% off fares for trips - up to SG$5 - from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. New users also receive a discount voucher.
According to multiple sources such as The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia, the start fare for all GoCar trips will cost SG$0.50 more, while GoCar Premium and GoCar XL services will see an SG$0.80 increase in start fares. Additionally, Gojek will implement a temporary flat fee for all GoCar, GoCar Premium and GoCar XL rides, for a period of two months from 31 March. A SG$0.50 and SG$0.80 flat fee will be added to rides that are less than 10km in distance and more than 10km respectively, according to CNA. Gojek's GoTaxi service, which charges customers based on the taxi's meter, will be exempt from both measures.
