Sesame Workshop, Sesame Street's nonprofit educational arm, has reportedly revealed plans for the popular children TV show to revamp its format for its 56th season.

The new revamp reportedly will debut in 2025 and will be one of the most significant developments on the show following the shortening of its duration back in 2016, according to CNBC.

The familiar magazine-style structure will be improved and changed to a two 11-minute narrative-driven segments pieced together by a new animated series titled Tales from 123. This new format comes in tandem with the end of the show’s five-year rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming giant Max.

The change reportedly will allow the writer’s room to develop two storylines that will be able to play off each other to create a more nuanced experience for viewers.

According to media reports, this revamp was in the works for some time and it was a coincidence that it aligned with the end of the Max deal. The current deal will end after season 55 of the show.

Earlier this year, Sesame Workshop also launched a campaign aimed at supporting the emotional well-being of young children, according to a release by the nonprofit.

Responding to a growing mental health crisis amongst young children and building on decades of experience developing social-emotional learning content for families, the Workshop addressed mental health needs through a wide range of activities and engaging content designed for the whole family.

These included a wide variety of offerings such as a YouTube special titled Elmo’s Mindfulness Spectacular which is a 5-minute Sesame Street and YouTube health and wellness special that explores big feelings that Elmo is feeling and that will take children on an epic mindfulness adventure.
