ZUS Coffee forays into FMCG market with canned fizzy coffee

Malaysian coffee chain ZUS Coffee is eyeing the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and lifestyle products market with the launch of new vertical and canned fizzy coffee.

The new vertical, ZUS Everywhere, has a landing page separate from its main ZUS Coffee website with lifestyle products and coffee at the forefront. Serving as an eCommerce platform, visitors will be greeted with an interactive virtual living room with the brand’s products scattered across it.

Products featured include its drinkware, coffee brewing tools and a jersey to name a few.

The interactive site also features COFFIZZ, its new canned carbonated coffee drink that aims to mark the brand’s entry into the ready-to-drink FMCG market. ZUS Coffee also said that COFFIZZ will be the first of more FMCG products to be released throughout the year.

"The inception of a canned sparkling coffee beverage stemmed from a gap in the market, where consumers were looking for an easy-to-drink version of coffee," said the brand in a statement.

According to the brand, COFFIZZ is made with real coffee extract and targets a casual coffee-drinking audience with its light caffeine content.

"Coffee may have left a bitter taste for some, but by blending the fizzy nature and light caffeine with similar levels in a soft drink, consumers can now enjoy a new experience in an untapped category, coffee refreshers," added the statement.

As ZUS Coffee expands its presence in the lifestyle products category, it recently collaborated with Malaysian streetwear brand HYPE on a capsule collection. The collection includes hoodies, overalls and flasks with the branding “HYPE X ZUS” across the products.

Last year, it also teamed up with Fishermen Integrated for Malaysia Day by commemorating other Malaysian made brands. The team at ZUS Coffee headed out to offices of Malaysian-made brands, such as SAYS, Julie's, Inside Scoop and The Chicken Rice Shop to gift them with the brand's signature coffee.
