XPENG taps into Erajaya's consumer network to fast-track EV adoption in Indonesia

XPENG, China's smart electric vehicle (EV) brand, is making an entrance into Indonesia by leveraging Erajaya Active Lifestyle's extensive retail network and expertise in consumer electronics. This strategic partnership aims to fast-track XPENG's brand adoption, ensuring that its AI-driven, high-tech vehicles reach the right audience.

With Indonesia emerging as Southeast Asia's largest new car market, XPENG recognises that breaking into the EV space requires more than just cutting-edge technology - it demands local market trust, strong retail channels, and an ecosystem that connects consumers to an aspirational brand experience.

Erajaya Active Lifestyle is a distributor and retailer of active lifestyle products, including IoT devices, smart home solutions, and premium consumer electronics, operating 145 retail outlets under Urban Republic, Garmin Brand Stores, DJI Experience Store, and JD Sports, among others.

XPENG plans to initiate local production in Indonesia, focusing on its AI-driven G6 and X9 models, both tailored for the right-hand drive market, the company said in a release. Production will commence in the second half of 2025, as it aims to reinforce its commitment to market integration and a sustainable supply chain.

This move aligns with XPENG's strategy to localise operations while delivering cutting-edge EV technology to Indonesian consumers. With a new car market around one million units annually, the country serves as a strategic hub for XPENG's regional expansion.

Founded in 2014, XPENG designs, develops, manufactures, and markets smart EVs. Headquartered in Guangzhou, China, XPENG has key offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Silicon Valley, and Amsterdam, and is listed on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Exchange.

At its launch event recently, XPENG unveiled its 2025 Indonesian lineup featuring the X9 and G6 models, which promise intelligent mobility, enhanced performance, and a seamless user experience. XPENG is leveraging its expertise in AI-driven mobility to democratise smart technology for the Indonesian market.

"XPENG seeks partners who share the same vision and dreams. Erajaya Active Lifestyle is such a 'new-force' in Indonesia and a perfect fit for XPENG locally," said XPENG vice chairman and president Brian Gu at the event.

Erajaya, known for representing top global brands such as DJI, Apple, and Garmin, brings market expertise and a strong retail network. By collaborating with XPENG, Erajaya aims to drive market education on smart EVs and enhance the user experience for Indonesian consumers.

"Erajaya Active Lifestyle is proud to be at the forefront of XPENG's journey in Indonesia. Our deep understanding of the local market and commitment to innovation-driven brands position us uniquely to support XPENG's growth," said Djohan Sutanto, CEO of Erajaya Active Lifestyle.
