Wipro Unza has appointed PHD Malaysia to manage its integrated media duties for two years with the option to renew for another. The appointment starts in April and will see the agency deliver integrated media strategies, planning and buying. This follows a pitch which also saw incumbent Carat pitching for the account. With the market review, Wipro Unza was searching for a communications partner to help grow their portfolio of 24 brands across 50 territories. Throughout the pitch process, PHD impressed with its strategy-led product, focus on delivering business results and digital-first approach. Wipro Unza's CEO Sriram Krishnamurthy said PHD's creative thinking and commitment to its craft is what sets the agency apart from the competition. “Throughout the review process, the team at PHD demonstrated a sincere interest in wanting to push the boundaries in innovation for our communications brief and developed holistic solutions that bridge the offline and online interactions with our consumers. They were the most passionate team in a very competitive review and we felt that they truly cared about our business objectives," he added. Eileen Ooi, managing director, PHD Malaysia said both the agency and Wipro Unza share a common "challenger" mentality and that really sparked the strong chemistry, with ideas flowing immediately and effortlessly between the teams. "We look forward to walking alongside them on their journey of growth and breaking conventions in the communications space for the CPG category," Ooi added. Last December, the company named Saki Goh (pictured) as GM - marketing to oversee the start-to-end marketing function, including the development and implementation of brand strategies, as well as new and existing products. She reports to Krishnamurthy.
