WeLab Bank and KMB launch interactive games on buses

Hong Kong's virtual bank WeLab Bank has collaborated with KMB to offer cash rebates, free bus services and interactive games to attract more customers.

The promotional campaign, co-organised by WeLab Bank and KMB, is aimed at connecting Hongkongers' daily lives with technology by providing more convenient and people-centric service experiences, catering to the needs of the digital-savvy generation. It consists of three parts. First, from 15 September to 31 December, customers using the WeLab debit card to pay the bus fares on ePayment system-enabled KMB buses can enjoy a HK$2 fare reduction. Currently, KMB has already installed ePayment system in over 1,000 buses, and is planning to equip its full fleet with electronic payment methods this year.

Second, for the three consecutive Sundays starting from 19 September, WeLab Bank will host “Free KMB rides on WeLab Bank” for every passenger to enjoy unlimited free KMB rides on three bus routes, including route 1A operating between Sau Mau Ping (Central) and Star Ferry Pier, Tsim Sha Tsui; route 108 operating between Kowloon Bay (Kai Yip) and Braemar Hill; as well as 96R, a popular route that bringing hikers between Diamond Hill MTR Station and Wong Shek Pier in Sai Kung.

To offer passengers more fun and enrich their bus journey, WeLab Bank will launch an in-bus mobile game for all passengers to enjoy and play. Passengers can earn up to HK$2,000 account opening rewards and win a PlayStation 5 in a lucky draw. 

WeLab Bank chief executive Tat Lee said, “The future of banking is here now, leading with a digital-first approach, embracing the connectivity of a smart city from the daily spending habits and preferences of customers from their everyday actions and transactions. Being able to connect with the passengers who make up the 2.7 million daily KMB bus rides, we can be more embedded into the lives of Hong Kong people through their daily travelling needs."

In recent years, we have demonstrated our determination to develop new energy buses, 5G buses, and an e-payment system to add more value to bus journeys and enhance Hong Kong people’s living experience.”
