WeChat Pay HK partners with 30+ Shenzhen malls to enhance e-payment experiences

Ahead of a long holiday involving the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, WeChat Pay HK has collaborated with more than 30 shopping malls across Shenzhen to enhance payment experiences for Hong Kong visitors. This latest partnership is a testament to WeChat Pay HK's expanding footprint in the e-payment landscape.

Partnering with shopping malls located in Shenzhen's Futian, Luohu, Nanshan, Bao'an, Longhua, and Longgang districts, WeChat Pay HK's coupons cover a wide range of offerings, from dining to beauty and hair services, as well as leisure and entertainment options.

Shoppers can redeem these merchant coupons in-store or via the merchant's mini-programme. To make these cash coupons readily accessible, QR codes are placed on promotional posters inside East Rail Line train compartments and within the partnered malls.

WeChat Pay HK’s e-wallet offers shoppers a smooth payment process when they pay in Hong Kong dollars, with the amount being automatically converted to RMB during the transaction, enhancing their payment experience.

Daniel Hong, vice president of Tencent Financial Technology, said, "We're genuinely excited about joining hands with Shenzhen's premier shopping hubs. Recognising the evolving needs of our users, we've designed this initiative to amplify their cross-border shopping adventures.”

“With WeChat Pay HK, our goal extends beyond mere payment facilitation to crafting a comprehensive shopping journey, filled with offers, discounts, and unparalleled convenience," he added.

Meanwhile, Ada Lau, brand director at WeChat Pay HK, said, "Our promotional blueprint for this collaboration entails a rich blend of digital marketing, social media, and public relations, further enhanced with a dedicated media tour. We're tapping into in-train promotions, capitalising on the East Rail Line's vast visibility for maximum impact. Our gratitude extends to our mall partners for their relentless support in augmenting in-mall and outdoor brand visibility."

Earlier in September, WeChat Pay HK introduced a feature called "Pocket Money for Mainland Travel", supported by the Education Bureau, enabling parents to transfer pocket money to their children via their WeChat Pay HK accounts.

Consequently, students can make purchases in the mainland using Hong Kong dollars without the necessity of a linked Hong Kong credit card or bank account. Moreover, students can utilise their pocket money on mainland online platforms such as DiDi, Meituan, and Dianping, allowing them to fully experience the convenience of e-payment.
