Weber Shandwick strengthens APAC client experience with new VP

Weber Shandwick has appointed Ken Hong as executive vice president, client experience for APAC.
Based in Korea, Hong returns to Weber Shandwick after spending the past 13 years at LG Electronics in Seoul as head of corporate communications. In his new position, he will leverage the power of communications to build brands, manage reputation and drive business for clients outside their home markets. He will also work closely with all APAC market leadership, and APAC CEO Tyler Kim to help the firms’ clients navigate the complexities of the issues they face in expanding their business across the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
He worked for Weber Shandwick before. From November 2006 to October 2008, he served as managing director at Weber Shandwick in Thailand.
Hong boasts more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Weber Shandwick said that he had spent his career building and driving innovative strategies to drive business growth and build a positive brand identity across the region. He has also played a key role in expanding LG’s global presence and helped build a comprehensive global infrastructure for their expanded communications strategy.
Commenting on Hong's appointment, Kim said, “Hong is well respected within the industry and brings a deep understanding of the global communications and marketing landscape from both an agency and a client perspective. Increasingly, Asian clients are looking to us to enable them to build strategies that are a roadmap to success. He will be sharing his expertise and insights with client leads across the region and will be a key driver for our strategy as we continue our journey in being a champion for Asian brands worldwide.”
Kim was named CEO of Asia Pacific last year, taking over from Baxter Jolly who has been appointed chairman, Asia Pacific. In his role, Kim partners with Asia Pacific and global leadership teams to guide the strategic direction of the agency across the region, with a focus on delivering innovation solutions for clients, driving operational excellence, and supporting local leaders in strengthening capabilities.
