Wavemaker names Deveshi Chugh as APAC managing partner

Deveshi Chugh (pictured) has been appointed as Wavemaker's managing partner for Asia Pacific. In the new role, Chugh will be reporting to Rose Huskey, chief client officer of Wavemaker Asia Pacific. She will work with Huskey to manage regional and global client relationships in APAC. This will involve meeting KPIs, driving adaptive market initiatives and allocation of resources, process and system across the portfolio. Previously, she was with Publicis Media for almost five years, with her last role being the regional business lead for APAC. She started off as Publicis' associate director, business development APAC.
Chugh is not new to the Group M family having worked with both Mediacom and Maxus in the past for over four years. Before relocating to Singapore, Chugh was based in India, where she started off as a management trainee in HDFC Bank, an Indian banking and financial services company in New Delhi. She then held roles in ad sales in companies such as TIMES OOH, a media company and Outlook Publishing India, a publishing house. She was also the AVP for sales and marketing in The Outdoor Journal.
Separately, Wavemaker Asia Pacific recently made changes to its precision and eCommerce units. Wavemaker Asia Pacific also promoted Shamsul Islam to the new head of precision and Smith Bhatt to the new head of eCommerce. Islam was previously its performance director while Bhatt was previously regional digital and eCommerce lead for clients across Southeast Asia. Islam’s promotion was effective 1 June while Bhatt’s promotion will be effective 1 July. Both of them will continue to report to chief client officer Rose Huskey.
At the start of the month, Wavemaker Indonesia had also named Praveen Pandey as its principal partner performance. He is responsible for leading performance media and eCommerce for L’Oréal. With over 15 years of experience in digital media with stints at GroupM, Omnicom Group, and Publicis Groupe, Wavemaker said Pandey brings the experience in setting up large digital businesses with a focus on biddable media and data-driven performance marketing.
