Integrated communications agency VCCP Singapore has bolstered its leadership by naming Ismail Jooma (pictured) as its new head of planning for APAC.

The appointment aims to solidify the leadership structure at VCCP Singapore with the recent arrival of Katya Obolensky as managing director and Mark Teal as chief marketing officer under the continued creative leadership of Andrew Hook as executive creative director.

With years of experience in guiding multiple teams across various continents, Jooma brings a wealth of experience and a dynamic perspective on Asian culture and trends. Within his new role, Jooma will craft strategies that inspire rich creative ideas that drive business results.

His professional journey has taken him across a range of network agencies including Ogilvy and TBWA, most recently VMLY&R Singapore, where he was head of strategy. In addition, he was previously chief strategy officer at South African independent agency Brave Group.

Over the years, he has worked with global brands such as Apple, MTN, Hyundai, Coca-Cola, Colgate, HSBC, Standard Chartered, KFC, Nando’s, Nike and Edgars.

Most recently Jooma led communications strategy for Apple across APAC and designed customer experience strategies for clients at Accenture Song Singapore, according to the release.

Obolensky said: “We could not be more delighted to have Jooma join our leadership team as we continue to strengthen our VCCP offering in Singapore. His wealth of experience, sharp intellect and dynamic approach to problem-solving will augment our ability to challenge the categories our clients operate in.”

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining an agency with a rich planning culture, one that truly places strategy at the heart of everything it does. Obolensky and the team are building something special here and I’m keen to bring VCCP’s challenger spirit to more ground-breaking work for our clients across the region,” said Jooma.
