London-based agency Purple has announced its acquisition of Hong Kong leisure and lifestyle PR agency Prime, giving it a physical presence in Asia.

The acquisition was completed in 2019 and key management for the Hong Kong office will remain the same with Laura Southwood (pictured right) staying on as managing director and Amanda Lui as general manager. Though the Prime name will remain in place for the time being, the office will rebrand as Purple in the near future.

“We are excited to be part of Purple. The agency has an impressive client roster and I felt for the business to grow in Hong Kong we needed a strategic partnership to achieve that goal. What appealed, when the acquisition presented itself, was that I liked the team and what they have been doing so well for so many years. The culture is also very much aligned with ours and the partnership has been seamless," said Southwood.

Currently, Purple works with leading international brands and talents across fashion, beauty, art, design, food, travel, and property. Offering a selection of services including PR, digital and influencer strategy, event ideation and execution, VIP services, brand consultancy, and talent management. These services will be extended to clients based in Asia after the acquisition. with the Hong Kong office being supported by Purple's other international branches.

Fergus Lawlor, CEO of Purple (pictured left) said, “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Prime. We have been looking at Asia for a while and the opportunity to purchase Prime made a lot of sense. With the Hong Kong office, we now have people on the ground in the US, Europe, and Asia."
