Uber unveils new feature for HK riders to plan trips in advance

Uber has launched a reserve system on the Uber app for Hong Kong riders to plan rides ahead of important occasions, by scheduling trips up to 30 days in advance.

Also known as "Uber Reserve", the new feature allows riders to reserve their rides up to 30 days in advance. No cancellation fee will be applied if the ride is cancelled 60 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Upon entering the system, riders can simply enter their reservation time, pickup and drop-off point, then they can select the available ride options to check their estimated fare, and make the reserve booking. The estimated fares will not vary due to surge or actual demand and supply conditions when the reserve trip starts.

Once a reservation is made, riders can check out the Activity tab for trip details or to make a cancellation. Riders will receive the driver-partner details once the reserve trip is accepted by a driver-partner. Uber Reserve is available for UberX, UberXL, Comfort, Assist, Uber Pet, and Uber Taxi.

Apart from riders, Uber Reserve also offers driver-partners a better earning experience, where they can accept trips that suit their own schedules and plan their trips well ahead of time. Before the start of the reserve trips, Uber App will also send reminders to driver-partners to assist them with on-time pick-ups.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Uber Hong Kong for further information.

“A survey of over 1,500 riders earlier this year showed that 87% of respondents appreciate being able to gain back more control over their trips and schedules when using Uber app," said Estyn Chung, general manager of Uber Hong Kong.

“As travel picks up in Hong Kong, Uber is committed to finding new ways to help move people better. The all new Uber Reserve is a natural complement to the on-demand product Hong Kongers know and love. It gives riders extra peace of mind when planning travel, business meetings or family outings. In addition to bringing new levels of experience to riders, we expect that Uber Reserve will also provide driver-partners with new earning opportunities and plan their trips well ahead of time,” she added.

Back in the beginning of November, Uber teamed up with Hong Kong Rugby Union to offer to offer taxi ride e-hailing to and from the Hong Kong stadium to celebrate the comeback of Hong Kong Sevens. Fans were able to wing their way through traffic before alighting at the designated pick-up and drop-off zone for Uber Taxi riders.
