U Mobile has appointed Michael Tung as head of consumer business reporting to marketing director Navin Manian. Tung (pictured) will oversee the end-to-end management of consumer business across the following business streams including prepaid, postpaid, broadband, IDD and roaming, device and retail branches.

He was previously with Maxis for eight years and last helmed the role of head of Maxis Home. He also worked at TM as the assistant GM for device management, and at Digi as head of device marketing. Tung's appointment coincides with Bernard Lee's appointment as U Mobile's head of brand and marketing services. Lee, who will officially come on board next week, will also report to Navin. Navin told A+M that it is always great to bring in strong industry talents that will add new perspectives and experience to the organisation.

"The year 2022 promises to be an exciting year as Malaysia begins its transition to an endemic phase. The roll-out of 5G brings lots of new possibilities for the industry to leverage on. U Mobile will focus on delivering the best value to its customers across its core prepaid, postpaid and enterprise segments while expanding its portfolio to new broadband and solutions segments," Navin said.

According to him, continuous improvement in quality of service is also a key focus with its 4G network reaching more than 90% population coverage and equipped with the latest 5G ready technology.

Last month, the telco launched a new website to offer its consumers with greater ease of use and a more holistic user experience. The new and enhanced platform also enables the telco to have greater autonomy and agility in managing content, and offers access to deeper and more comprehensive user analytics. With the improvements, u.com.my now offers an enhanced, trilingual customer experience through personalised content delivery, which enables the telco to achieve its overarching goal to better service its customers on digital channels. The team worked with GrowthOps on the website for eight months and the website is powered by Adobe Experience Cloud and hosted on Amazon Web Services.
