Twitter is building its first-ever engineering centre in Asia Pacific as part of its expansion in this high-growth region. It will also hire 65 technical talent in Singapore covering product engineering, software engineering, data engineering and data science.
To be based in the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, the engineering centre will help Twitter to strengthen its global engineering capabilities as well as improve service availability and reliability for people who use Twitter around the world. This additional investment in R&D for Twitter in Singapore comes after the success of Twitter’s international data science team, founded in Singapore in 2016 which was the company’s first outside of the US.
Maya Hari, VP of Asia Pacific at Twitter, said Asia Pacific has always been a growth engine for our company and this new engineering centre is a strategic investment that demonstrates Twitter's commitment to this important region where people, partners and brands come every day to see what’s happening in the world and to talk about it.
“We are thrilled to bring some of the best, cutting-edge engineering jobs for a global Internet platform to Singapore, from product development to data science to machine learning, and this is truly an amazing time to join our purpose-driven company to serve the public conversation across the world," Hari added.
Meanwhile, Michael Montano, global head of engineering at Twitter added that he is excited that the company is adding to its engineering team with this new engineering centre in Singapore. "This is a pivotal moment for Twitter as we focus on accelerating development and continuing to serve the global public conversation," he added.
