Trip.com has launched out an exclusive campaign with Mastercard to offer travelers discounts off all flights when they pay with any Mastercard World or World Elite Consumer Credit and Debit cards on the Trip.com app. This comes shortly after Trip.com Group and Mastercard signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) earlier this year.
The promotion will run in 17 territories across the Asia Pacific region for one year from 1 September 2023 until 31 August 2024.

"At Trip.com, we are always seeking to help our customers plan the perfect trip. We hope that this promotion will encourage them to explore more of the world and live their dreams, and we look forward to introducing more of such programmes together with Mastercard in the coming months," said Edmund Ong, senior product and marketing director (Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia).
This comes as Trip.com sees a significant increase in flight bookings as the travel industry rebounds following the pandemic. It noted that flight bookings made in the first two weeks of August increased by 160% compared to the same period a year ago
The partnership will also continue to bring exclusive deals for travellers as Trip.com Hong Kong launches its 9.9 Mega Sale in September. In this sale, Mastercard card holders will be able to get a discount up to HKD249 on flight tickets and flight package bookings over HKD1,000 or above during the 5 September to 9 September campaign period.

This comes shortly after Trip.com teamed up with charitable organisation Save the Children Hong Kong to inspire children’s creativity and imagination through light and shadow art, with support from Trip.com’s partner teamLab.

Mastercard has also been ramping up its efforts in China as of late. Earlier this year, Mastercard and WeChat Pay partnered up to offer visitors the access to local merchants in China to improve their digital payment experiences.
This comes following the partnership established in 2019 to offer enhanced digital payment solutions to both consumers and merchants, and the latest development gives Mastercard cardholders full access to WeChat Pay's merchant network in the China upon linking their cards to WeChat Pay as a new payment option.
The extended merchant network includes categories such as dining, transportation, shopping, accommodation and more. Travellers with Mastercard cards can now utilise multiple payment methods through the WeChat app, such as scanning QR codes, presenting payment codes, mini programmes and in-app payments, enriching their payment experience online and offline.
