Touch ‘n Go (TNG) has appointed Praba Sangarajoo as its new CEO, effective 1 April 2023.

Currently the deputy CEO of the TNG, Sangarajoo joined the company in 2021. He holds responsibility for revenue growth, new businesses, product innovation as well as the management of government and stakeholder relationships. During his time with the company, Sangarajoo has spearheaded the launch of new products and introduced new revenue streams, including radio frequency identification (RFID) for expressway toll payments and fueling, the enhanced TNG near field communication (NFC) card for improved customer conveniences, and the acquisition of an unprecedented number of new parking sites in 2022.

Prior to TNG, Sangarajoo was the CEO of Xperanti IoT, a telecommunications company, for five months.

According to his LinkedIn, he joined Xperanti IoT after being the CEO at SAPURA, a rail business from 2013 to 2021. He has also been the head of business development south asia for Nokia Siemens Networks, before which he was the key account manager and VP of service sales at Siemens Malaysia from 2000 to 2007, as seen on his LinkedIn.

Zainal Abidin Putih, chairman of TNG Group, said that Sangarajoo's vast experience prior to joining the company, coupled with his experience in running TNG's business & growth division, will take the company to the next level of growth. He will be responsible for continuing the growth trajectory of the Group’s businesses as the team navigates the increasingly competitive landscape in the fintech industry.

“Whilst Touch 'n Go has been a dominant payment form factor on highway tolls, the company now also operates multiple businesses and revenue streams, and is competitive across all verticals, not just in tolling," added Zainal. Hence, there remains significant room for innovation across TNG's businesses with further potential for growth.

"We are confident that Praba has the business acumen and leadership capabilities to steer Touch ‘n Go through its next strategic phase and achieve greater successes going forward, he added. A+M has reached out to TNG for a statement from Sangarajoo on his new position.

In February this year, TNG's director of brand management and marketing, Izra Izzuddin left the company. Izra had been with the company since 2020, first taking on the role of director of marketing communications and sustainability. Currently, she also holds on to the portfolio.
