Ignatius Ong will be stepping down from his position as CEO of TNG Digital on 31 March for personal reasons. Alan Ni (pictured right), the company's current chief operating officer, will be appointed CEO effective 1 April 2022, Touch ‘n Go Group told A+M.
Ong (pictured left) took on the role in 2019, succeeding Syahrunizam Samsudin. Before TNG Digital, he was Malaysia Airlines' group chief revenue officer and Firefly Airlines' CEO. Meanwhile, Ni is no stranger to the TNG Digital family, having served as one of TNG Digital's founding management team members since 2018, when he first joined as chief risk officer.
He was appointed TNG Digital’s chief operating officer as well as head of financial services in 2019, and in 2020 took on the added function of chief product officer. In his multi-faceted capacity, the company said Ni has played a vital role in developing core business and product aspects that define the TNG eWallet today.
Given Ni's already heavy involvement in the company’s management and operations, Touch ‘n Go Group told A+M that it expects this leadership transition to take place smoothly, with no changes to company strategy and business plans. TNG Digital is a joint venture between Touch ‘n Go and Ant Financial Group.
Ni has over 20 years of experience in consumer and commercial finance as well as risk and fraud management, with the last 15 years in senior leadership capacities. He has worked internationally in USA, Korea, Thailand, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia for major corporations, and has a proven track record of running and leading successful teams. The TNG Digital Board in its decision is confident that Ni possesses the skillset, experience and vision required to drive TNGD’s next phase of growth.
