Tiger Beer Malaysia and Pestle and Mortar Clothing (PMC) have partnered to launch the Tiger Uncage Fund, a platform by Tiger Beer, created with the ambition of supporting local talents of various backgrounds.

Heineken Malaysia's spokesperson said this is only the first of several upcoming initiatives under the Tiger Uncage Fund where a total amount of RM200,000 will be given to local talents. The search for these local talents was done across various mediums, including social media, websites, and input from both creative and activation agencies.

Currently, there are already been eight finalists who are eligible candidates for the fund. They are Apoh, Jay Ivanez, Kai Yi Wong, Leon Sapphire, Luvenia, Rachel Chong, Shu, and Wai Chun. Soon, four up-and-coming artists will be selected from these eight finalists via a Discord voting procedure, and each will get a stipend of RM50,000. By the end of July 2022, the names of these four winners will be revealed to the public.

This is not the first time both parties have collaborated. Earlier this year, Tiger Beer and PMC celebrated the Year of the Tiger with the launch of an NFT collection. The NFTs came about with the mission to ignite a movement that encourages people everywhere to set aside their fears and achieve bold ambitions in 2022.

Dubbed “The Tiger Archives”, the collection of 6,688 NFTs featured PMC’s take on Chinese archival tiger artwork inspired by Tiger Beer’s bottles through the years, each unique and fully drawn by hand. The NFT collection was sold out within 10 minutes of going live. With the proceeds gathered from the sales of ‘The Tiger Archives’, 30% of the sum will go towards supporting local talents throughout the year, via the Tiger Uncage Fund platform.

This is not the first initiative that Tiger Beer has launched to support local companies in their time of need. Last year, Tiger Beer unveile its #SupportOurStreets effort in Asia to support neighbourhood bars, eateries, coffee shops, and food courts in overcoming the difficulties the pandemic posed for the F&B sector.

More than RM1.5 million was pledged by Heineken Malaysia while approximately RM3 million was pledged by Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore in the form of cash funds and vouchers that people can redeem at their favourite local F&B outlets once the safe distancing measures were over.
