Malaysian beverage brand WONDA Coffee has partnered 17 radio stations across four languages for a multi-lingual and multi-cultural broadcast experience to promote its Kopi Tarik drink which is a combination of iconic Malaysian drinks.

Presented by Astro Radio and Etika, listeners tuned into OR1 FM with WONDA Kopi Tarik on radio stations or the Syok app to enjoy specially curated playlists of their favourite Malaysian songs.

The multi-lingual broadcast was done in conjunction with Malaysia’s National day to celebrate the diversity of Malaysian culture, according to a statement by the brand. The broadcast ran the same feed simultaneously across 17 stations from 6am, 30 August until 12am, 31 August 2023.

"Listeners can enjoy a unique broadcast representing the multilingual and multicultural diversity of original Malaysian culture, just like Wonda Kopi Tarik, the Original Malaysian Taste," said the brand.

Additionally, listeners could also enjoy photo and video updates of OR1 FM with Wonda Kopi Tarik on the social media pages of all radio brands and catch more than 60 of their favourite announcers donned in a mix of traditional attire.

“For us at WONDA, there is nothing that says Malaysian Originality more than our multicultural, multiracial and multilingual heritage,” said Amy Gan, Etika’s vice president of marketing.

“This is our way of showing appreciation and saying thank you for making us the nation’s most loved Kopi Tarik in a can,” she added.

During the broadcast, listeners also stood a chance to win cash prizes and engaged in multi-lingual discussions about Malaysian culture on SYOK app.

“Music transcends all races and languages; reflecting the rich multi cultures of Malaysia,” added Kenny Ong, chief executive officer, Astro Radio and director, Astro Media Solutions. He also explained that through the strategic partnership of Astro Radio-Etika, the campaign is expected to create a memorable experience for its 16.3 million weekly listeners on what it means to be truly Malaysian.

Malaysian brands have come up with creative ways to celebrate the nation's independence this year as Malaysian supermarket chain Jaya Grocer celebrated Merdeka Day with the opening of its largest store yet in Eco Galleria, Taman Eko Botan.

Jaya Grocer’s CEO Adelene Foo said that the launch of this new store was a fitting tribute to all customers in Johore who had been highly supportive of the chain ever since it open its first outlet in 2018.

“We’re thankful for the tremendous support by our customers at our Johore stores in Austin Height , Sunway Citrine and R&F Mall so we’re happy to invest further into expanding our network in the State,” she added.
