The Walt Disney Company has appointed Winradit Kolasastraseni as general manager, direct-to-consumer for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia (excluding Indonesia), and general manager of the Walt Disney (Thailand) company effective 1 June. In his new role, Kolasastraseni will be responsible for spearheading the company’s growth in the dynamic direct-to-consumer space, and will lead business teams across the region to deliver Disney’s storytelling to consumers in the evolving ways that fans and families around the world prefer to experience Disney’s content.
As for his role in Thailand, Kolasastraseni will lead local teams with a consumer-first strategy to continue growing Disney’s brand affinity across Thailand, focused on understanding Thai preferences and tastes, and connecting with consumers in a locally relevant way. He will report to David Shin, general manager for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia and Jay Trinidad, general manager, direct-to-consumer for APAC.
“I am excited to join the Disney family and to be given the privilege to spearhead the company’s direct-to-consumer efforts in the region as well as to lead the dynamic market of Thailand. There is amazing growth potential in our region and I am excited about the possibilities and opportunities to drive business for the company,” said Kolasastraseni.
Boasting over 20 years of experience as a global tech and digital media executive, with extensive experience building and operating highly scaled yet global online businesses, Kolasastraseni joins The Walt Disney Company from Discovery, where he was general manager of Dplay, the company’s global online video on demand service.
He was also responsible for driving digital transformation and revenue growth of Discovery’s core business. Prior to joining Discovery in 2016, Kolasastraseni was CEO and founder of two successful OTT media companies and was director of sales at Microsoft in Thailand.
“Kolasastraseni is a savvy tech and media leader with extensive global and regional experience. I am confident that the depth and breadth of his expertise will put him in excellent standing as he takes on this dual role with Disney, accelerating our growth in the region and delivering world-class entertainment experiences to our consumers,” said Shin.
