The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is back this year in its original form and to celebrate its return, a new SCSM logo was unveiled.
The new logo is fronted by two of Singapore’s most famous icons, the Merlion and the Orchid. The Merlion is to signify the event’s positioning as a city race while the Orchid, known to symbolise hardiness and resilience, is to represent the Singapore spirit. The logo will be displayed in all key branding materials, including race singlets, marketing collaterals and event signages.
This year’s run will include the Half Marathon 21.1km and Marathon 42.195km categories to cater for more runners. Participants will be able to take part in the Double Up Challenge, allowing runners to take part in two races. Runners can either register for the 5km or 10km category as well as the Half Marathon 21.1km or Marathon 42.195km.
Jeff Edwards, managing director of Asia for The IRONMAN Group, said: “After SCSM2021, we’ve been constantly monitoring the status of the pandemic in Singapore while working closely with Sport Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Standard Chartered Bank, and all other stakeholders to determine the format for the 2022 edition.” The IRONMAN Group is the largest operator of mass participation sports in the world and provides more than a million participants annually the benefits of endurance sports through the company’s offerings.
Meanwhile, Keith Tan, chief executive, Singapore Tourism Board added: “As we welcome more visitors back to Singapore, premier sporting events such as the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2022 will reinforce our position as a leading destination for sports in the region and boost our reputation as a vibrant business and lifestyle destination."
Last year in Hong Kong, Reckitt and its brand Dettol is joined forces with Standard Chartered's Hong Kong as the official hygiene partners for the marathon in Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, Standard chartered had also become the latest bank to step into the metaverse through a partnership with Animoca Brands' subsidiary The Sandbox, creating innovative experiences for clients and the community in Hong Kong.
