The Communications Authority (CA) has approved an application by TVB for changes to the line-up of programme channels, replacing "J2" and "TVB Finance, Sports and Information channel" (FSI) with "TVB Plus" under its channel 82. Meanwhile, the "Phoenix Hong Kong channel" (鳳凰衛視香港台) will be launched under channel 85 starting next Monday.
According to TVB's statement, TVB Plus is an integrated channel that provides an enhanced viewing experience by integrating free-to-air TV content with interactive content on TVB’s digital platforms, including myTV SUPER and TVB social media accounts. The channel will also serve as a platform for experimental content and formats, aiming to expand TVB’s audience beyond traditional viewers.
“TVB Plus will offer a diverse range of captivating dramas, non-dramas, finance and sports programmes, with original productions showcasing the expertise of our production team,” its statement reads.
On the other hand, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) said in a statement that as a result of TVB's new channel arrangement, all racing programmes and mark six draws currently aired on FSI, will be broadcast on TVB Plus.
In addition to the launch of TVB Plus, the CA has granted approval for the inclusion of the Phoenix Hong Kong channel (channel number 85) on TVB’s domestic free TV platform, effective from 22 April 2024.
The CA has also approved TVB's application for a temporary waiver from compliance with the subtitling requirement for Phoenix Hong Kong channel for three months from 22 April 2024 to 21 July 2024, before full compliance with the relevant requirement.
TVB will continue to provide five programme channels under its domestic free television programme service license and has committed to ensuring the broadcast contents will comply with the requirements stipulated in the Broadcasting Ordinance, its free TV license, and the CA's codes of practices.

This comes after both parties signed the first comprehensive cooperation framework agreement worth RMB$700 million last year, releasing the drama The QUEEN Of News (新聞女王), which became a market sensation in mainland China and Hong Kong, garnering widespread acclaim both online and offline.
This second collaboration between TVB and Youku aims to expand the entertainment market in China and globally. It also showcases TVB's strategic deployment to meet the growing demand for entertainment content in China.
