TamJai International (TJI) has appointed Ronald Wong (pictured) as its new chief marketing officer, succeeding Agnes Lung.
His appointment is effective from mid September 2023 and he reports to Daren Lau, chairman, executive director and chief executive officer of Tam Jai International.
Within his new role, Wong is tasked at bringing the TamJai brand to a number of overseas markets. His key focus is to transform the brand to ensure its core brand essence is well explained to the overseas customers and that it is meaningful to them.
“At the same time, we want the brand to stay differentiated with our unique personality like we always have been. We’d also like to enhance the brand and customer experience by improving our digital engagement with them in general. That means across the markets we would increase our capabilities in digital marketing and CRM and we would have new ways of working within the marketing community,” Wong told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
Wong looks after Hong Kong and all international markets, including the upcoming markets such as Australia and the Philippines.
In terms of agency partners, Wong said TamJai tends to work with a mix of agency talents to keep the ideas fresh. TamJai is now working with PR agency The Bridge Agency, creative agency The Bread Digital and Narrow Door.
“It’s rare to find such an exciting mission to bring a true Hong Kong legend to the world! Tam Jai grew up with many HongKongers and now it’s time to take this brand & famous Hong Kong delicacy to diners of the world,” Wong said.
Prior to TamJai, Wong had been with DFI Retail Group for over four years, with his most recent role as the vice president of brand and marketing and the co-founder of DFI's loyalty programme yuu.
Before DFI Retail Group, he had been the associate director, group brand and marketing for AIA for nearly five years, where he was responsible for focusing on driving brand marketing, customer engagement and "health and wellness" customer proposition for AIA Group across its network of 18 operating markets.

The master franchise agreement has an initial term of three years commencing on 13 November 2023 and ending on 12 November 2026, and may be renewed subject to mutual agreement of both parties and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
