Hong Kong's Tai Po District Office (TPDO) is reportedly planning to host a drone show featuring the Chinese cartoon character Nailoong (奶龍) in September to celebrate China's National Day.

According to multiple media reports such as HK01 and am730, the Naloong-themed drone show is scheduled to take place on 21 September in Plover Cove Road Mini-Soccer Pitch (寶湖道小型足球場), Tai Po. The show will display 3D patterns that represent landmarks in Tai Po against the night sky, aiming to attract over 100,000 visitors.

TPDO is also exploring the idea of organising a night tour of the Lam Tsuen River (林村河), according to the reports. It has planned to set up a floating platform to hold an opening ceremony. Citizens will then take small boats and cruise along the Lam Tsuen River and enjoy the night scenery.

Apart from the drone show, the TPDO will launch a parade showcasing Tai Po's traditional performances such as dragon and lion dances, and marching band performances, according to the report.

The performance team has planned to start from the Tin Hau Temple Fung Shui Square (天后宮風水廣場) and parade along Ting Kok Road (汀角路), Tai Wo Road (太和路), Nam Wan Road (南運路), Plover Cove Road Mini-Soccer Pitch, and Kwong Fuk Bridge (廣福橋), aiming to showcase the characteristics of Tai Po.

Don't miss: Thousands flock to HK harbourfront for Dragon Boat Festival drone show

This is not the first time the TPDO has organised a drone show. Back in July, it partnered with Tai Po District Preparatory Committee for Activities to launch a 200-drone display over the Tolo Harbour as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government is also utilising drone shows as a way to promote tourism in the city. Back in June, over 1,000 drones lit up the sky over Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour on Monday to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival and showcase Chinese tradition to locals and tourists.
