Star Media Group names temporary special committee to lead operations

Star Media Group has created a temporary special committee, comprising three non-executive directors, to oversee the operations of the company, following the retirement of the company’s group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai. In the interim, the three non-executive directors are Dato’ Fu Ah Kiow, Dato’ Mohd Aminuddin Bin Mohd Rouse and Chan Seng Fatt. The board added that it has identified the replacement for the CEO position and will make the announcement in due course. Late last year, Star Media Group announced that its group managing director and CEO, Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai (pictured), will be retiring from his role on 1 January 2019. However, Wong will continue to serve as group advisor on editorial and corporate relation matters. Wong had been with the group for 34 years, helming the role of group managing director and CEO since 20 November 2013. He was previously appointed as group chief editor of The Star on 1 January 2008. Last year the group said it will also look to expand on its digital plans revolving around its Star Online news portal, as it moves forward with its transformation exercise
