Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong is hosting its “Together V-run”- a virtual run event taking place between 21 June and 11 July 2021. The brand has launched a campaign across social using video to lure in runners in Hong Kong to contribute to a set of collective goals of running miles in three weeks.

Standard Chartered will turn the accumulated running miles into as much as HK$5 million donation to support employment for local fresh graduates. The scheme provides employment opportunities for youth graduates to jumpstart their creative careers. Runners who log at least 3km of accumulated running miles during the period will receive an e-certificate. Top runners who achieve the longest accumulated running distance and run at least 10km in each of the three weeks will be awarded e-coupons.

Mary Huen, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Hong Kong, said the spirit of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong marathon has always been encapsulated in its slogan “Together we run further”. “While the pandemic has prevented us from meeting each other, it does not stop us from challenging ourselves and working together to support the young generation – the future of our society. The ‘V’ in ‘Together V-run’ not only stands for the ‘virtual’ format of the run and ‘victory’ against the pandemic, more importantly, it also signifies ‘We’ – the positivity that we as a group can bring to Hong Kong,” Huen explained.

Last year in March, Standard Chartered revealed its Hong Kong virtual bank, Mox. Its brand name meant to include mobile experience, money experience, money X (as in X as symbolic of multiplication), exponential growth, and exploration. Its logo and visual design was inspired by the round shape of a Hong Kong dollar coin. More recently, it launched a new learning hub named “diSCover Lab” in Singapore to boost job readiness, career prospects and future competitiveness of the Singapore workforce during December last year.
