Bottled water brand Spritzer has launched a heartwarming Chinese New Year campaign to inspire Malaysians to embrace tradition during the festive season. The campaign aims to highlight the importance of open-hearted conversations between family and friends with a humorous yet moving short film.

Titled "Speak from the heart", the eight-minute-long film stars actors and brand ambassadors, Koe Yeet and Jaspers Lai, with special appearances by Yagood and Jobroseph.

The film tells the story of a young man named Jasper, a 30-year-old who is feeling to pressure from his family to settle down. With the Chinese New Year festive season approaching and his anxiety rising, Jasper enlists a hairstylist to pretend to be his girlfriend for the day. With her humour, quick wit, and ability to hear the inner thoughts of others, she helps Jasper navigate conversations with his nosy aunt, turning a potentially stressful situation into a memorable and light-hearted experience.

In a conversation with A+M, Shiao Chan, head of marketing at Spritzer said the company chose to release the short film to leverage storytelling to build reliability and resonance with their target audience.

“The campaign is all about connecting with the younger generation and showing that we understand what they go through during Chinese New Year gatherings. These gatherings are meant to be joyful, but we know it can feel uncomfortable dealing with all those 'funny' questions from older relatives, even as they try to stay polite and respectful," said Shiao Chan.

She added, "Through this campaign, we want to create a way for the younger generation to express their thoughts honestly while maintaining harmony in their relationships with family".

Shiao Chan also said the film highlights the importance of expressing oneself with respect, understanding, and sincerity, while reflecting on values such as family, unity, harmony and kindness.

To further commemorate this year's celebrations, Spritzer is also offering exclusive gifts with purchases of its beverage products. Customers who buy RM38 worth of Spritzer products will receive a free Spritzer Chinese New Year-inspired ceramic bowl, while those who spend RM18 will get a free Spritzer Chinese New Year-inspired retro mug.

Spritzers natural mineral bottled water will also be available with a special edition Chinese New Year label to highlight the festive spirit.

Spritzer is not the only Malaysian company to release a short film this Chinese New Year. Slithering into the Chinese New Year in fashion, Malaysian home improvement retailer MR D.I.Y. Group has also launched a humorous yet heartwarming Chinese New Year web film, along with the debut of a dance-themed music video.

Titled "The Family Trial", the eight-minute-long film features Hong Kong star Benz Hui and follows a father and son caught in a comedic feud over their Chinese New Year plans.

However, the son soon discovers his father’s secret health issue. The story then takes an emotional turn, ending in a heartwarming reunion dinner that highlights the unbreakable bonds of family.

To further commemorate this year's celebrations, MR D.I.Y. has also launched their very first Chinese New Year dance-themed music video, “Ular-lar,” inviting Malaysians to get creative and join in the fun with a dance challenge on social media to win prizes while spreading the festive joy.
