Waterwalk Records, Sony Music Philippines’ Christian music label designed for a new, streaming generation, addresses the uncertainty of its young audience with recent releases for Q2.

In the Philippines, Christian music emerges from daily life and is a reflection of the country’s rich culture, explained Roslyn Pineda, general manager of Sony Music Philippines. “Pop music inspired by Christian melodies has arguably created some of the most interesting music in recent years. It’s a diverse genre full of talented artists who use faith as a regular way of connecting with people.”

“The Philippines is a musically rich country, well known for showcasing the best of Christian music in Southeast Asia,” said Ariel Fung, EVP, Sony Music Southeast Asia. “With Waterwalk Records, our vision is to create a hub for Christian music in Asia that serves artists and writers who are creating ground-breaking music and impacting the lives of millions. Our line-up of artists is just the start of helping us achieve that vision, representing the very best of local and regional talent.”

Duo Sam&Steff kicked off the trilogy of contemporary worship tunes.  According to the 19-year-old twins, their tracks serve as “battle cries" for people who are facing life’s uncertainty, chaos, and confusion. Up-and-coming artist Janine Danielle takes music to a more meaningful worship experience in “Why Do You Love Me.” The inspirational ballad was written and composed specifically for her by Spotify Philippines’ most streamed female artist, Moira Dela Torre, and Moira’s husband, award-winning musician Jason Hernandez. Finally, EJ De Perio releases an ethereal sonic treat, “Buntong Hiniga,” that provides a take on a conversation between De Perio and God, the creation and the Creator.

Waterwalks producer Jungee Marcelo said, “With much consideration to their preferences as music ministers, we welcome all inputs and collaborations to synthesize a gift that we could offer to God as our means of humble service."
