Shopee quietly lists job openings for UI/UX ShopeeFood in SG

Shopee has posted job openings in Singapore for its food delivery arm, ShopeeFood. According to the platform's career portal, it is looking for a UI/UX designer, as well as members to join its product management team. However, ShopeeFood currently does not operate in Singapore, alluding that the food delivery service has earmarked the market as its next destination.  However, ShopeeFood may be just setting the bases for its expansion into Singapore, given that there are only two openings available for the market so far. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out for comment.

According to the job post, the UI/UX designer for ShopeeFood will be tasked with driving the end-to-end design process of its products, to better position it as the preferred food delivery platform in the region. Meanwhile, members of its product management team will drive conceptual and technical development of ShopeeFood product ideas and improve data accuracy for the platform. They will also be responsible for leading and designing roadmaps for ShopeeFood products in the region, to effectively review input and stakeholders’ evolving needs to enhance current product features, propose new products, and ensure alignment with all stakeholders.

Separately, Shopee has listed a total of 68 positions for its ShopeeFood arm in Vietnam and Thailand. Shopee previously launched its food delivery service in Indonesia in April last year. This year, ShopeeFood further expanded into Malaysia in June and into Vietnam in August - through the rebranding of NowFood, a Vietnam-based food delivery platform.

Additionally, while ShopeeFood has yet to make an official announcement on its expansion to Thailand, it already has a Facebook business page set up for the market. Shopee has also listed 10 job positions for ShopeeFood in Thailand, including marketing, business development and operational roles.

Separately, Shopee recently moved into the hospitality scene by partnering with global digital platforms Agoda and Booking.com to launch Shopee Hotel. This exclusive partnership will allow Shopee users to access the travel platform's inventories of hotels, resorts, homes and apartments through the app. Shopee Hotel will be rolled out across seven Southeast Asian markets - Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. The launch of Shopee Hotel is timely, the eCommerce marketplace said then, as it will be able to meet the needs of consumers since more of them are planning holidays amidst the gradual reopening of domestic and international travel in the region. Shopee's latest hotel offering is also a unique one for an eCommerce marketplace and comes as players in the eCommerce scene expand into other areas such as food vouchers and groceries.
