Online cashback portal ShopBack's Arthur Wan (pictured) has taken on an expanded role of general manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, effective from 1 June 2024.
In this newly created role, Wan oversees both Hong Kong and Taiwan business expansion. He reports to Joel Leong, co-founder of ShopBack.
In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Wan said he is tasked to drive operational excellence by leveraging the expertise and structures from both Hong Kong and Taiwan markets.
According to his LinkedIn, Wan described himself as an experienced senior executive and general manager with a demonstrated history of working across tech, digital media and eCommerce. He has managed sales teams, agencies and also created sports startup company. He is also a business development professional skilled in digital strategy, mobile advertising, display advertising, monetisation and marketplace.
Wan joined ShopBack in April last year, initially serving as the general manager for Hong Kong before the promotion. Prior to ShopBack, Wan was the commercial director at Deliveroo Hong Kong. Before Deliveroo, he had been the general manager at MoneySmart Group, country manager at Groupon and new business sales lead at Google.
“I am thrilled to take on the new role of general manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan. This is an incredibly exciting time for our business as we look to significantly grow our operations in this dynamic region. I'm bullish on the opportunities ahead as we deepen our partnerships with merchants and provide even more value to customers. Together, I'm confident we can drive substantial expansion and cement our position as a leading cashback platform in Hong Kong and Taiwan,” Wan said.
Don’t miss: ShopBack HK names new head of marketing
Back in May, ShopBack promoted Otilia Chan to head of marketing for Hong Kong, reporting to Wan. In this newly created role, Chan manages a team of seven across ShopBack’s online cashback marketing in Hong Kong.
She is also responsible for all aspects of marketing from customer acquisition, growth, and campaigns. As part of the ShopBack Hong Kong leadership team, Chan will also work closely with local teams and regional stakeholders to achieve aspirational goals.
ShopBack launched a branding campaign in November last year. It aimed to build credibility and awareness of the brand, so as to increase the conversion in town with online and offline exposure.
With the tagline “ShopBack Before You Shop” (Shopping前 ShopBack咗先), the idea of the campaign came from the brand's mission to educate the mass public on how to use and earn cashback and debunk the misconceptions about how ShopBack actually works.
