ShopBack has joined hands with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Hong Kong (TAT-HK) for the first time to launch a new campaign "Must-Visit Places in Thailand", to enhance consumers’ travel experiences with valuable cashback.

Since the launch of ShopBack one year ago, over 35% of its users have made purchases in the travel category. ShopBack sees Thailand emerge as one of the top destinations, indicating a significant demand for travel-related offers.

As such, ShopBack is seeking a partnership with the official tourism authority to enhance users’ travel experiences. The Tourism Authority of Thailand will provide recommendations for the most popular sightseeing destinations, ensuring that ShopBack users have a superior travel experience with guidance from the official tourism authority.

Available throughout December 2023, the campaign targets both existing and potential ShopBack users who have a desire to travel to Thailand during the festive season.

As part of the campaign, users will receive a “Challenge Opportunity Voucher” to take home two sets of Bangkok round-trip air tickets when they spend HK$1000 or more at Agoda, Trip.com, Expedia, Booking.com and other designated travel merchants through ShopBack.

Furthermore, by purchasing air tickets and hotel accommodations with cashback from ShopBack during the regular weekly promotion “Travel Tuesday” campaign, users can enjoy various weekly offers and receive up to 13% cashback.

To engage a wider audience, the campaign is promoted via digital media platforms such as am730, Yahoo Finance, Sina Hong Kongand Tthailandchina.net. Social media posts by influencers such as BACALHAU are also leveraged.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Arthur Wan (pictured left), general manager of ShopBack Hong Kong, said this partnership offers a win-win situation for all parties involved, with ShopBack benefiting from the support and recommendations of the official Tourism Authority of Thailand, enabling it to provide enhanced experiences to users who choose to visit Thailand.

“In return, users will enjoy additional benefits such as cashback and extra discounts when they book their Thailand trips through ShopBack’s OTAs,” he added.

Furthermore, this collaboration will be advantageous for the Tourism Authority of Thailand as well, he said. “By partnering with ShopBack, we can connect them with more than five OTAs, diversifying their promotional channels and reaching a wider audience,” he added.

“ShopBack has always been committed to creating wonderful shopping experiences for our members[…]Thailand has always been one of the favourite travel destinations of Hong Kong people, while December is the holiday season for Christmas celebration. We hope the Thailand offer will bring pleasure to our members. We will launch even more surprising promotional campaigns in the future,” Wan added.

Phornmon Chansri (pictured right), director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Hong Kong said the partnership between TAT-HK and ShopBack is an inspiring example of how customer experiences can be improved while providing valuable cashback to enhance travel experiences.

“This innovative collaboration has the potential to retain and attract customers by offering insights into the behaviour of Hong Kong's customers, thereby enabling a better understanding of what travellers truly desire,” she added.
