Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a specialised zone dedicated to health and tourism in Bali, Indonesia, has appointed digital agency Juicebox as its marketing agency.

As the appointed marketing agency, Juicebox Indonesia will provide its expertise in delivering impactful design, technology and marketing-solutions for the high-profile project across the region. This partnership further strengthens Juicebox's reputation as a trusted agency for government, tourism and economic initiatives in Indonesia, according to a press statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

“Having worked with Bali’s hospitality industry for over a decade, it’s fantastic to see initiatives such as the Sanur Special Economic Zone take shape. Following the success of developments such as the Icon Mall and other beachfront projects, this new endeavor is elevating the quality of tourism offerings in Sanur and is a first for Indonesia. The Sanur SEZ also delivers significant benefits for domestic travelers and local communities, enhancing opportunities and experiences for everyone," said Tarryn West, agency director, Juicebox Indonesia.

The Sanur SEZ is an initiative aimed at transforming the region into a wellness destination. This appointment highlights the agency's role in high-profile projects, delivering marketing solutions that fuse design and technology.

Located on the 41.6-hectare site of the former Grand Inna Bali Beach Hotel and Golf Course, the Sanur SEZ is backed by Indonesia’s Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. It seeks to enhance the country's health and tourism sectors, including the construction of facilities such as the Bali International Hospital, luxury accommodations, botanical gardens, a convention center, and shopping venues.

Promoted as a net-zero carbon initiative, the SEZ focuses on sustainability and supports the use of electric vehicles and eco-friendly practices. The project aims to position Bali as a leading destination for medical and wellness tourism, easing the process for foreign health practitioners through streamlined permits and offering advanced medical technologies and facilities for international-standard laboratory testing.

The SEZ plans to accommodate 140,000 patients annually, potentially saving over Rp86 trillion (US$5.5 billion) in outbound medical expenses. The anticipated investments are projected to range from Rp15 to Rp20 trillion (US$1.27 billion), significantly contributing to Indonesia's GDP with an estimated Rp80.7 trillion (US$5.16 billion) by 2045.

Juicebox's marketing role for the Sanur SEZ underscores its reputable position in managing governmental and economic projects within Indonesia, added the statement.

This appointment comes as the agency announced its news positioning, "Digital worth experiencing". The strategic shift emphasises the company's dedication to brand-led, human-centered design, technology, and marketing solutions that aim to craft digital experiences capable of inspiring, connecting, and empowering users.

“We have always built exceptional websites and apps, or managed high-performing marketing campaigns, but we now need to focus on creating brand-led, human-centered products, experiences, and campaigns that resonate emotionally and connect with people on a deeper level," said West.

Meanwhile, in response to the evolving digital market in Indonesia, Juicebox has expanded its local technology team, enhancing its project management and web development capabilities. The agency has also strengthened its strategic consulting team and established a new full-time business development role in Jakarta.

Additionally, Juicebox has launched a new website for the Sumba Foundation, a non-governmental organisation engaged in social and environmental initiatives on Sumba Island, which is gaining recognition as an eco-tourism destination. This project is part of Juicebox's mission to support organisations in reaching and engaging with audiences throughout the Indonesian archipelago.
