RazerPay's former regional marketing lead Nikhil Khandelwal sets up QR solution firm

Nikhil Khandelwal, RazerPay's regional marketing director and Malaysia country head, has founded his own QR solution named MysteryQR. He was previously with RazerPay for more than a year and prior to that, he worked at Fave for more than two years. Khandelwal (pictured) first joined Fave as head of planning and merchandising, according to his LinkedIn, before being promoted to GM in 2017. He also worked at Groupon in Malaysia and India.

In a statement to A+M, Khandelwal said MysteryQR was co-founded with Abhishekk Handa (pictured below left), co-founder and tech leader based in India. Meanwhile, strategic advisor Ankit Gupta (pictured below right) is based in Indonesia and oversees the company's marketing.

According to him, MysteryQR solves three core business issues - traffic, tech and cost. He explained that MysteryQR is able to bring footfall back to the merchants and there is no need to hire a team or have expensive technology. He also added that MysteryQR is able to drive the cost of marketing and tech down.

Having been part of the eCommerce space the last 10 years, Khandelwal said he has seen all merchants and business owners do multiple promotions simultaneously. To assist merchants during these trying times, Khandelwal thought to create a gamified solution with the objective of making their existing campaigns go viral. With MysteryQR, merchants can collate their online and offline promotions in a single QR code and share it across multiple channels such as social, delivery boxes, live streaming, receipts, business cards, staffs, influencers, billboards, and press releases, among others. Upon scanning the QR code, a user gets a mystery promo from the pool of promos pre-set in the backend.

Launched three weeks ago, Khandelwal said it currently has five clients - Youbeli, Jocom, Potboy, Playtonia, and Beast Park. Meanwhile, the company is also in the process of onboarding more than 20 merchants from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. He added that the MysteryQR functionality does not require users to download an app to scan. Likewise, merchants do not require any integration or mobile devices, making it completely operationally friendly for employes.

"The team at MysteryQR is ready to scale the platform in other parts of the world as well by working with people who have existing connections but got laid off or are looking to start their career by working with the business owners," Khandelwal told A+M. The team is also launching a consumer platform and on social media channels too. A+M has reached out to RazerPay for comment on his replacement.
