PUBG and NewJeans tease new collaboration on socials

Fans of battle royale game PUBG: Battlegrounds can expect a new fresh look on the action scene as it has teased its latest collaboration with K-pop girl group NewJeans on social media.
This comes as PUBG wishes to leverage the popularity of NewJeans, after the girl group was named by The Face as “the most important girl band on the planet,” and by Billboard as “one of the most recognised and most influential groups in pop". The global sensation group has more than seven million YouTube subscribers and 16 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
According to PUBG's official Instagram and X accounts, the company released a teaser image to reveal the members of NewJeans running through a pastel-coloured PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS world. The image showcases the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS x NewJeans-themed decorations, including buses, an outdoor stage, starting planes’ banners, and care packages.
The visual teaser also comes with a caption, "Next stop, the new Taego World. Get ready to switch it up with a fresh new look and take over the action scene just like NewJeans."
Ahead of the collaboration update, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has been releasing a wave of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS x NewJeans teaser content.
A video released on 31 May featured a care package, adorned with a NJ Tokki (bunny) character, falling from the sky. It also revealed a PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS helmet with bunny ears and the phrase ‘GUESS WHO!’, sparking curiosity among players and fans.
A check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE saw on PUBG’s Instagram that some netizens were excited about the partnership. However, some also said the candy-coloured promotional materials do not match the PUBG gaming experience.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS will release more teaser content ahead of the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS x NewJeans collaboration launch, available on computers from 12 June, and on consoles from 20 June.

It is not the first time that PUBG has launched collaboration game content. Back in October 2023, Mountain Dew collaborated with PUBG to bring back that year’s Dew Challenge.
Merging both virtual and reality, the Dew Challenge goes national in a PUBG-themed paintball tournament whilst bringing different elements of the mobile game to life.
