PropertyGuru nabs WeWork's director of public affairs as new corporate comms head

Singapore property website PropertyGuru has named Ng Keng Wee (pictured) as its new head of corporate communications (external), according to a LinkedIn post by Ng. Ng was previously WeWork's director of public affairs for the Asia Pacific region.

In his new role, Ng will be overseeing the Southeast-Asia markets, while managing external corporate communications for the Group. He will be reporting to Sheena Chopra, vice president, of PropertyGuru's corporate communications. 

"It has been an enriching two weeks engaging with different business units and stakeholders to understand how PropertyGuru continues to enhance every step of the property process, and across the spectrum of stakeholders from buyer, agent, financier, developer to policy and city planner," he wrote.

He added that as Southeast Asia continues to be a dynamic and thriving region; specifically with property and technology, he is looking forward to being part of an industry that constantly evolves with its diversity in talent and solutions.

It is a newly created role and part of its plans to strengthen the corporate communications team to serve the needs of the business, said PropertyGuru when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out. 

In his post, Ng credited his experience for the new role to the four years he spent at WeWork and the corporate real estate experiences he got from that. 

"During my time there, I was very fortunate to work with some of the most inspiring leaders, and alongside a highly resourceful and resilient team. As my first in-house role, I could not have asked for a better experience.  Thank you, WeWork."

Ng was with WeWork from 2019 to 2024. He started out as a senior manager of public affairs for Southeast-Asia before being promoted to director of public affairs for the Asia Pacific region.

Before WeWork, Ng was the technology practice lead at WE Communications. He was with the company from 2010 to 2019. In his time here, he worked with clients such as Fujitsu Asia, EMC, Rolls-Royce, BMC Software, Sony Electronics, MediaTek and Microsoft.

Ng has also worked at Bite Communications where he handled and worked with clients such as Skype, Siemens PLM Software, HP and more.

"As we continue to enhance the value and enrich the property journey, our communications team plays a crucial role. I am thrilled to kick off 2024 with this expanded team of diverse capabilities and talents," said Chopra. 

His appointment follows Disha Goenka Das’ recent appointment as chief marketing officer (CMO) of PropertyGuru Group.

As CMO, Das will oversee the group’s brand strategy, corporate communications function, as well as the environmental, social and governance (ESG) mandate. Das is part of PropertyGuru's Group leadership team and will report to CEO and managing director, Hari V. Krishnan. 

The Group also recently welcomed Paolo Mangahas as the head of corporate communications (internal). Mangahas will be overseeing the Group's internal corporate communications for the region.
