National post and parcel service provider Pos Malaysia has unveiled a special stamp set in collaboration with Pokémon Trading Card Game. The stamp set celebrates the beloved Pokémon franchise and features designs inspired by the trading card game.

This includes Pokémon characters such as Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur and other fan favourites.

The special set includes ten stamps, four postcards a souvenir cover envelope, a Pokémon Trading Card Game fun pack and a playmat. The stamp set is available while stocks last, and fans could pre-order them in-person at Pos Malaysia's booths at the Pokémon Trading Card Game Showdown 2025 at Bukit Bintang City Centre or at Pos Malaysia's bureaus and post offices.

Fans can also pre-order online at Pos Malaysia's official website. Delivery and self-collection are expected to begin on 27 March 2024.

“The launch marks a milestone for Pos Malaysia as we embark on a landmark collaboration in Southeast Asia with one of the world’s most iconic pop culture brands. Just as Pokémon brings people together globally, we too are passionate about delivering meaningful connections. We are excited to bring this special stamp collection to life as part of that mission," said Fiona Liao, group chief marketing, communications and sustainability officer of Pos Malaysia.

She added: “The stamp set offers a delightful collectible experience, blending Pos Malaysia’s philatelic craftsmanship with the global phenomenon that has captured the hearts of millions across generations. It is a wonderful way for both stamp enthusiasts and Pokémon fans across Malaysia and Southeast Asia to celebrate their love for this timeless franchise while keeping the joy of stamp collecting alive.”

Pos Malaysia is not the only brand to collaborate with Pokémon in recent times. Most recently in December 2024, Mister Donut collaborated with the popular franchise to release two limited-edition donuts in the shape of a Poké ball and Pikachu. On a global scale, sandwich cookie brand OREO partners with Pokémon for limited edition themed cookies and photocards in February 2024 too.

In an interview with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE previously, Jonathan McCarthy, vice president of marketing at Mondelēz International, Southeast Asia said "OREO had also previously partnered with Pokémon in the US and seeing how much that partnership and OREO’s playful twist excited people and knowing how popular Pokémon is in this part of the world, it was a no-brainer for us to leverage the idea with our own twist of Pokémon embossed cookies and a Pikachu-inspired flavour."

"The OREO x Pokémon collaboration brings together the adventurous world of Pokémon with the playful experience of OREO. We tapped on consumers’ behaviour of collecting hard-to-find Pokémon and mirrored the thrills by getting them to ‘collect all 16 OREO Pokémon cookies’," added McCarthy.

Meanwhile, brands such as Le Creuset7-Eleven Hong Kong and Pizza Hut has also tapped on the franchise to engage with its fans and customers throughout the year.

This collaboration with Pokémon Trading Card Game comes after Pos Malaysia partnered once again with Penang-based tech accessories company Galado to release a new limited-edition phone case collection. The collaboration is intended to feature Pos Malaysia’s brand through creative design elements.
