Dua Lipa writes, co-directs and stars in wildly imaginative new Porsche ad

Porsche has released a new campaign film for its new all-electric Porsche Maca, written, co-directed by and starring global superstar Dua Lipa.

The film starts with Dua Lipa asking how she would direct a Porsche ad. She then goes on to describe her ideal Porsche ad, which materialises scene by scene.

The singer and her friends are then seen in the car at different conditions, at night, in the mist and in the rain, while being chased. The situations start to get more imaginative and include scenarios such as running away from a wedding, spraying graffiti on the car and even landing on the moon.

The film then ends with a massive finale, where Dua Lipa drives the Porsche alongside horses and elephants.

Throughout the film, Dua Lipa’s track Training Season plays in the background, forming the soundscape of the electrifying film.

Dua Lipa worked with French director Clemént Durou who is well known for high-profile projects such as the music video for Pharrell Williams’ Happy, for the film. The aim was to craft a concept that authentically represented both Dua Lipa and Porsche. 

In an Instagram post, Dua Lipa called the film a “dream project with the dream team”, where her only question was how far they could take it.

The chart-topping British singer-songwriter joined the brand in November 2023 and was present at a Porsche Experience Centre event in Los Angeles. She also made her first official appearance at an internal Porsche event in Singapore earlier this year.

At the Porsche Experience Centre, Dua Lipa had the opportunity to experience the thrill of driving a Porsche for herself, when she got behind the wheel of an all-electric Taycan and both a current and historic 911.

“Getting to know the Porsche team and digging into the brand’s legacy has only further solidified my love for them. Between Le Mans this summer and recently getting to experience the power of an all-electric Porsche first-hand in LA, I’m so excited to see how many other once in a lifetime moments are born from our partnership,” said Dua Lipa at the time.
